Saving a Universal Icon of World Humanity

Saint Germain des Prés was established in 543. It is home to centuries of history, art and culture, including holding the remains of philosopher, mathematician and physicist René Descartes. In the early 19th century famous writer and parishioner Victor Hugo worked to save and restore the building when it was slated for demolition after the French Revolution. Now, the church is in dire need of restoration.

Americans Rally to Save the Oldest Church in Paris

American Friends for the Preservation of Saint Germain des Prés is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to fund the restoration of Paris' oldest church. The foundation works with its French counterparts at The Preservation of Saint Germain des Prés Foundation to garner donations in the pursuit of preserving history.
